Today in enrichment we read A Midsummer Night's Dream. It is about a duke that is going to get married. The person he is going to marry is the queen of the Amazon's.The story is written by William Shakespeare.I think it is the best story ever! So the duke and the queen are going to get married in four days. The duke says I can't wait until we get married. He said he could not sleep. The queen said "be patient and the moons will go by fast".
Six Uneducated Men
Today we met 6 goofballs. They were going to make a play. There was one guy named Peter Quince. Also, there was Nick Bottom who thought he knew everything and could be everything. One was Francis Flute who talked like a girl. Another was named Tom Snout. Snug was really shy guy. The last one was Robin Starveling.So they were going to rehearse the play in the woods at midnight. There was one problem. Lysander,a boy, and Hermia, a girl, were going to meet in the woods at midnight too. They were going to meet there to run away to Lysander's aunt's house and get married.
Fairies
Today we read about a fairy named Puck. He was wandering around in the woods and he met another fairy. She was the dewdrop fairy. She worked for Queen Titania. Puck worked for King Oberon. Pucks real name was Robin Goodfellow.So the fairy asked Puck if his name was Robin Goodfellow who plays all the tricks on people. Puck answered yes and asked if she knew him. She said yes. Puck questioned the fairy asking if she knew about the the big fight between King Oberon and Queen Titania. She did not know about the fight. So he told her they were having a fight about a human baby. Queen Titania had the baby but King Oberon wanted the baby. King Oberon thought Queen Titania stole the baby from an Indian village. King Oberon didn't know Queen Titania didn't steal the baby. Queen Titania got the baby when went to the beach and metamorphed herself into a human. While Queen Titania was at the beach, she met another woman. That woman was going to have a baby. The woman knew she was going to die so she asked Queen Titania if she would take care of her baby. Queen Titania agreed and took the baby home. Meanwhile, at King Oberon's house he called Puck asked if Puck remembered the day at the beach and they saw Cupid shoot an arrow at a man and he missed the man. Instead, he shot a white flower and the white flower turned purple. The purple flower had love in it now. So King Oberon sent Puck for the purple flower. Meanwhile, a girl named Helena had heard about Lysander and Hermia running away. So she went to tell a boy named Demetrius about Hermia and Lysander's plan. Demetrius was chosen by Egeus [Hermia's father] to be Hermia's husband. Hermia refused because she wanted to marry Lysander. Demetrius went running for Hermia with Helena right behind him saying I love you, I love you, over and over again. Puck overheard Helena telling Demetrius that she loves him. Puck told King Oberon about Helena and Demetrius. King Oberon said that he would give Puck half of the purple flower and he would have the other half. So that night, when everybody was asleep, King Oberon went and put a drop of the juice of the flower on each eyelid of Queen Titania. Puck put a drop of the juice on each eyelid of Demetrius.
The Chase
Today we learned the Queen Titania's elve's. One was named Peaseblossom the other was named Cobweb another was Moth and the last was Mustardseed.Queen Titania told them to sing her a lola-by. When she went to sleep King Oberon came and put a drop of flower on Queen Titania's eyes. He told Puck to put a drop of the flower juice on a guy's eyes that had Athinian clothes on.Both Lysander and Demitrious had Athinian clothes on and Puck thought that Lysander was Demitrius. Then when Helena came by she saw Lysander asleep. She woke him up and the first thing he saw was Helena. So he fell in love with her. So Helena ran away from Lysander, and Lysander ran after Helena. Then Hermia woke up and she couldn't find Lysander so she ran after him.
Love At First Sight
Today we read that the crazy men were going to reherse their play in the woods. They are rehersing and then Puck comes along and watches the men do the play.The stage was going to be a little plot of green grass. The curtain's were going to be behind a plot of brires. While Bottom was behind the curtain's Puck turned Bottom's head into a donkey's head.Bottom didn't know it so when he came out from the brires he had a head of a donkey. Then the other people ran away and he started singing. And then Queen Titania wakes up from Bottom's singing and she sees a donkey. King Oberon said to Queen Titania when she was asleep wake up when there is an ugly creature around. So she fell in love with a donkey. She said for him to come to her place. Then when they got there she said for her faries to fan him with leaves. She said they were his servants and he could have anything he wanted.
